How it works The Electronic Razor Wire Concertina Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) provides the most reliable detection system based on Razor Wire Concertina available anywhere today. The unit measures the outgoing current of the electric pulse and NOT the return voltage, thereby eliminating the need for return wiring. The main effect of the deterrent shock feature of the Electronic Concertina PIDS is psychological. Those who do touch the fence, typically do so only once. They receive a short, painful, but safe and human electric shock, and an alarm is also activated, showing the exact location where the fence was touched.
Installation and Maintenance D-Fence has designed the Electronic Concertina PIDS for easy retrofit into existing facilities. A system of brackets allows the perimeter deterrent fence to be easily installed onto existing chain/mesh fences, wall-tops and rooftops. D-Fence has designed brackets to accommodate almost too all installations, and is set up to custom design specialty parts to meet virtually any installation requirement. The Electronic Concertina PIDS does not require any preventative maintenance. The unique quality of this unit is the information that is transmitted from the field unit to the central control center. The unit measures the pulse values of the current, and records them in the memory of the microprocessor. Each pulse is measured again in each measurement period. The display of these values at the control center enable security personnel to evaluate the status of the insulated wire screen, or insulated inner coil of the concertina, so as to decide whether or not any maintenance needs to be carried out.
