NIR - Taut Wire Intrusion Detection System
Introduction
NIR represents D-Fence highest security solution for protecting sites against intruders.
The system is based on sensor posts which connect all types of wires such as regular wire, double braided wire or barbed wire in order to create wire screen. Each NIR sensor converts mechanical forces into electrical signals which will be processed by an integral processing unit.
Any attempt of climbing, spreading or cutting through the fence will immediately send an alarm to the D-Fence's control computer center.
D-Fence has years of experience with installing NIR. NIR is installed in dozens of sites around the world covering sensitive sites such as Army bases, Airports, Manufacturing sites, Petrochemical sites etc. NIR uses advanced technology which allows it to face all weather conditions, for the sake of intruder detection only.
Sensor Post
Nir is based on sensor posts, each of which contains an integral signal processing unit in addition to the sensors. This electronic unit performs local signal processing, communicates with the central computer at the control station, and controls a local dry multi-purpose contact. The rugged sensor contains no electrical contacts, moving or rubber parts. As a result of the ruggedness and self-alignment ability of the sensors, installing the posts and connecting the taut wires to the sensors does not require any special training. The post's signal processor has an additional input to which a vibration sensor can be connected. If an intrusion is detected by that sensor, the dry contact is activated and a message is passed via the communication line to the control center.
Wire Screen
Any type of wire such as regular wire, double braided wire, barbed wire, aircraft wire can be used as the taut wire of the system. It is possible to create two parallel taut wire screens without the need for additional posts, by replacing regular sensors (type AS/1) with two-sided (type AS/2) sensors at no additional cost. The protection screen includes the anchor posts, which are equipped with sensors like any other post in the system, and these can also detect intrusion attempts.
Control Center
The control center consists of a regular PC equipped with the Nir application software. This software uses a mouse instead of a computer keyboard. Security personnel simply point the mouse to a limited number of functional "push buttons" appearing on the control screen.
It is also possible to use any annunciation that accepts dry contacts as inputs. The post dry contact can be programmed to close on each alarm detection. However, this will inhibit the use of the system unique features: resolution, remote maintenance and remote control of the post's dry contact.
Low False Alarm Rate
The specially designed sensors and unique digital post processing units insure constant sensitivity that is not affected by weather conditions. The "NIR" system operates equally well in all seasons, and the false/nuisance alarm rate is almost zero.
Resolution detection
The "Nir" system offers unprecedented resolution detection. Any tampering attempts are pinpointed to specific post and taut wire identification numbers.
The "Nir" system has a detection resolution of a single sensor, unlike the resolution of a group of sensors (one post or even more) in many existing systems. Each intrusion attempt recorded is accompanied an intrusion attempt.
Sensors
The sensor has a very wide dynamic range, and exhibit constant sensitivity. This eliminates the need for balancing the sensor during scheduled maintenance operations. When a sensor reaches the end of its dynamic range, the security officer at the control center is notified.
Maintenance
The system needs no scheduled maintenance operations. Authorized personnel can access the maintenance mode on the central control computer. Maintenance personnel can decide on the sensors requiring maintenance, thus, only the sensor's with queries need to be serviced, saving valuable maintenance time.
The wide dynamic range of the system's sensors allows for longer intervals between maintenance operations.
