Bat-El

BAT EL Intrusion Detection System

Introduction
Bat El provides a perimeter protection for sensitive sites against intruders. Bat El belongs to NIR family of products. The systems is based on sensor posts which uses various type of wires to create a wire screen. the systems sensor converts mechanical forces into electrical signals which will be processed by an integral processing unit. Any attempt of climbing, spreading or cutting through the fence will immediately send an alarm to the D-Fence's control computer center. Bat El may be installed as a stand-alone system incorporating an integral freestanding fence, or it may be superimposed onto an existing barrier. In any configuration, the detecting "screen face" serves as a deterrent and/or delaying obstacle to the potential intruder, while giving immediate warning of any attempted penetration.
D-Fence has years of experience with installing the Bat El and integrating it with existing fences, on walls and on top of roofs.

Bat El Concept
The entire screen of the Bat El fence is divided into alarm sectors. When some event at the fence triggers an alarm, the signal emitted at the central control unit is accompanied by identification of the precise sector in which the detected intrusion attempt has occurred.
Within each section (which may be up to about 100 meters long), there are three detectors (one screen) to monitor the entire section of the fence. The three detectors are mounted on a special detector post, the detector post itself positioned at the center of the section.
The detecting screen is electronically controlled and monitored by a main electronic unit based on a microprocessor.

System Characteristics
The system withstands all climatic conditions of wind, rain, hail and snow. The system is not sensitive to the movement of vehicles nearby and it does not require special terrain conditions. The system has the capability of sensing the location of the intruder as required by the applicable specifications.

The ability of Bat El to differentiate between various types and levels of force applied to the screen is a notable factor contributing to its intrinsic effectiveness.
Forces caused by wind, ground movements, precipitation, changes in temperature and humidity, as well as by small animals or wind-blown objects, normally will not trigger an alarm. This is because climatic forces or terrain conditions and the forces acting on the screen wires do not affect this sensitivity. The use of digital analysis of the sensors signals at the level of the post as against the definition of an intrusion profile prevents false alarms and nuisance alarms. The false alarm rate is independent of the weather and of terrain conditions.

Low False Alarm Rate
The specially designed sensors and unique digital post processing units insure constant sensitivity that is not affected by weather conditions. The "NIR" system operates equally well in all seasons, and the false/nuisance alarm rate is almost zero.

Maintenance
Bat El features simple operation and minimal maintenance requirements. Once installed, it provides efficient continuous perimeter surveillance and protection. The system does not require scheduled maintenance.
Minimal effort is required for the operation and maintenance. Efficient operation and maintenance depends upon user familiarity with the design theory and practical applications of Bat El.
